Indications
Amotin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic effective against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, such as E. coli, Haemophilus, Proteus, Streptococci, and Clostridia.
It is recommended for the prevention and treatment of chronic respiratory diseases, aerosacculitis, digestive system diseases, diarrhea, and typhoid in poultry.
Amotin is administered to lambs, calves, and young animals to treat synovitis, sinusitis, diarrhea, and infections of the urinary and genital systems.
Recommended Doses
- Prevention in poultry: 50 g / 200 liters of drinking water for 3–5 days.
- Treatment in poultry: 100 g / 200 liters of drinking water for 3–5 days.
- Prevention in large animals: 1 g / 10 kg body weight in drinking water for 3–5 days or 1.5 kg / 1 ton of feed for 3–5 days.
- Treatment in large animals: 2 g / 10 kg body weight in drinking water for 3–5 days.
Withdrawal Period
Meat must not be used for human consumption during treatment and for 6 days after the last administration.
Interaction with Other Medications
Concurrent administration with tetracyclines, chloramphenicol, macrolides, or lincosamides is contraindicated.
Contraindications
Amotin must not be administered to laying hens.
